The event was co-promoted by Project & Technology Management Foundation (PTMF) and Institute of Management Consultants of India (IMCI) and held as KM –Fest Event. In all display panel, brochures, backdrop in conference venue- KM Fest name and logo has been clearly displayed. Photographs will be sent and shared. The event was very successful and we had very senior professionals drawn from across industries and consulting companies participated. There were total 76 delegates. The quality of presentations as well as contents were excellent.

We had three technical sessions in addition to the normal inauguration session as well as summing up and valedictory session. The technical session were:  First session was on Project management strategies  in large Infrastructure projects, The second session was on  Capacity building strategies for Large Infrastructure Projects and third session has dealt with consultants perspective of challenges in infrastructure projects. This seminar focussed on large infrastructure projects and challenges for the consultants covering engineering consultants, project consultants and management consultants.

The first session was led by Mr Rami Goldratt CEO of Goldratt Consulting who were the inventor of Theory of Constraints (TOC). He talked about at length on challenges in project management and how key strategies can deliver the successful outcome. Covered numerous cases and caselets. The session was excellent. We are organising more programs in that line.

The second session was led by Dr Graham Hastings Evans, MD of NOCN, UK. Dr Graham was consultant for skill and capacity building for London Olympic. He has covered key strategic initiatives taken at London Olympic for capacity building which was a mammoth affair. The session has generated lot of interest and questions.

Both lectures were highly appreciated. In the third technical session we had couple of speakers drawn from very senior professionals discussing consultants’ challenges in specific large power projects and highway infrastructure projects.

Almost 200 people registered at Lawrence Technological University (LTU) in Southfield, Michigan on April 13-14 for orbitak's two-day conference on Globalized Project Management Competence. Attendees included leaders from industry and academia as well as students from the university. An international panel of speakers from three continents shared their expertise on trends and expectations in managing programs and projects on a global scale, the partnership of industry and academia in addressing project management issues, and strategies for American companies to utilize when operating abroad. Hosted by orbitak International LLC the event opened with its CEO, Thomas Baumann, greeting the group and outlining the event’s topics. Dr. Maria Vaz, Provost of Lawrence Tech then welcomed the group to the university followed by a keynote address given by Irene Spanos, Director of Oakland County’s Office of Economic Development and Community Affairs. Keeping with the theme of local development, Dan Kinkead of Detroit Future City presented an overview of achieved and planned projects in the City of Detroit. The conference then launched into the international aspects of project management, with renowned speakers from India, England, Germany and the US presenting. Individuals from industry and management experts shared their “lessons learned” regarding the requirements, strategies and competences needed to succeed in international markets. Topics addressed included product design on a global scale, getting the right product in the right market, and the difference between complicated and complex project management. Of great interest were topics that spoke to the human element of managing globalized projects: burn out, career management, establishing global teams, dealing with multicultural teams when differences in language, values and customs offer challenges not usually encountered when working locally. A panel discussion and Q&A session ended each day of the conference. Sponsored by LTU, Siemens, the Dürr Group, Secure-24, the IPMA-USA, KM Fest, Oakland County, ESD and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, registrants to the event included project  professionals and students from southeast Michigan, Illinois, Ohio and Haiti. In a survey conducted amongst all those who attended, the variety of speakers and topics was especially welcomed.
